From Old Median *Aragv(ī), from Proto-Iranian *Ragvī- (swift), feminine of *ragu- (swift); compare Sanskrit रघ्वी (raghvī́), feminine of रघु (raghú, fleet, rapid). Related to Old Armenian արագ (arag).
