Etymology[edit]

From Middle Persian [script needed] (gwzynk' /gōzēnag/, a walnut sweetmeat) (whence Persian گوزینه(gōzīna), Arabicized جوزینه(jauzīna)), from [script needed] (gwc /gōz/, walnut) (whence Persian گوز(gōz)) + [script needed] (-ynk' /-ēnag/). Akin to Khwarezmian [script needed] (kwzynyk), Arabic جَوْزِينَج(jawzīnaj), جَوْزِينَق(jawzīnaq).
