From Old Georgian ისარი (isari), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *i-sar- (arrow), from *sar-, *sr- (whence also სროლა (srola), ისვრის (isvris), etc.). Cognate with Mingrelian ისინდი (isindi) and Laz ისიჯი (isiǯi).
