From Old Georgian ისარი ‎(isari), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *i-sar- ‎(arrow), from *sar-, *sr- (whence also სროლა ‎(srola), ისვრის ‎(isvris), etc.). Cognate with Mingrelian ისინდი ‎(isindi) and Laz ისიჯი ‎(isiǯi).
