Etymology 2

Likely the same word as მსვა (msva, wing) with a sense development "wing" → "side" → "location". Compare the sense developments seen in Georgian ფრთა (prta), მხარე (mxare), Armenian թև (tʻew), կողմ (koġm), French côté.
