[edit]From Old Georgian ნათელი (nateli), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *nat-e- (“light”), from *nat- (“to shine, give light”). Cognate with Mingrelian ნოთე (note, “ray of light; torch”) and Laz ნოთე (note, “torch”).
