[edit]From ფათქალ- (patkal-) + -ამ (-am) + -ს (-s). Probably along with the root ფათხალ- (patxal-) ,that used in Western dialects, Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *petk- : ptk- (“to break; to blow up”).
