Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Kartvelian *ɣwi- (juniper), borrowed from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Armenian *gʷi-, whence գի (gi). The same sound development is seen in another possible early Armenism in Kartvelian: ღვინო (ɣvino).
