[edit]From ხე (xe, “hand”) + Ottoman Turkish پاتیك (patik, “small slipper”), in turn borrowed from Greek πατήκι (patíki), πατίκι (patíki, “slipper”), from πατώ (pató, “to tread”) + -ίκι (-íki).
