Old Georgian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly from earlier *ჴანდური (*qanduri) (compare the descendants), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *qandur- and cognate with Laz ხუნდური (xunduri).

Compare also Svan ღედერ (ɣeder), Karachay-Balkar къудору (qudoru), Abkhaz аҟәы́д (aqʷʼə́d), Abaza къвы́д (qʷʼə́d). Abaev also compares Ingush кхе (qe), кхей (qej) (itself akin to Chechen кхоь (), Bats ჴოგ (qog)) which is probably unrelated.

Noun[edit]

ჴნდური (qnduri)

  1. bean; pea (Pisum sativum)
