Etymology[edit]
*ᚺᚨᚱᚲᚨ (*harka) + -ᛁᛚᚨᛉ (-ilaʀ, diminutive or agent suffix). First element probably related to Old Norse hark (“tumult; harshness”), onomatopoetic for hoarse sounds.[1][2]
