Etymology

[edit]

The character ɔ rotated 90° anticlockwise. The Uralic Phonetic Alphabet makes regular use of 180°-rotation to denote a reduced form of a given sound; where this results in homoglyphy, as here, the character is rotated 90° anticlockwise instead.

Symbol

  1. (UPA) A reduced ɔ vowel.
  2. (superscript, UPA) an extremely short or fleeting . [not supported by Unicode]
