Ancient Macedonian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Unknown. Apparently equivalent to Ancient Greek ἐρινύσι (erinúsi), according to Hesychius of Alexandria.

Rocca (2017) compares this word with an epithet of Ceres, found in an Oscan curse-table: 𐌀𐌓𐌄𐌍𐌕𐌉𐌊𐌀 (arentika).[1]

      arántisin; erinúsi. Makedónes
      arántisin: 'to the Erinyes', according to the Macedonians
