   • 800 BCE – 600 BCE, Homer, Odyssey 9.293:

     ἤσθιε δ᾽ ὥς τε λέων ὀρεσίτροφος, οὐδ᾽ ἀπέλειπεν, ἔγκατά τε σάρκας τε καὶ ὀστέα μυελόεντα

     He ate them as a mountain-nurtured lion, leaving naught—ate the entrails, and the flesh, and the marrowy bones.
