  1. (Teutonista) a slight degree of the feature indicated by a diacritic that overstrikes a letter.
A lightly velarized a.k.a. not-very dark l, less velarized than [ɫ]. This has the abbreviation ⟨ꬷ⟩.
A lightly pharyngealized fricative between [ħ] and [h] in articulation.

Usage notes

The paretheses may be applied to orthographic diacritics. For instance, ⟨š⟩ with parentheses means either š or s – that is, IPA [ʃ] or [s].
