    Inherited from Proto-Berber *ta-m-əṭṭuṭ-t (woman), active participle from *ṭ-ṭ-ḍ (to suckle, to nurse). Cognate with Tashelhit tamṭṭut (woman,wife), Kabyle and Tarifit tameṭṭut (woman,wife).
