Ancient Greek

[edit]

Symbol

[edit]

⸔, ⸕

  1. The ancora, a marginal note that marks where text has been omitted, or to a restoration of text in the top or bottom margin (according to which direction the ancora points).

Usage notes

[edit]

Unicode notes that the characters are misnamed, that the "downward ancora" actually points upward, and the "upward ancora" downward.

The ancora points in the direction of the bare end of the shaft. That is, points upward, and points downward.
