- 2014, Orange page, Otoku sozai de cooking [Cooking with inexpensive ingredients], volume 15, page 14:
- ゴーヤーはへたを切って縦半分に切り、スプーンで種とわたを取る。
- Gōyā wa heta o kitte tate hanbun ni kiri, supūn de tane to wata o toru.
- Sever the calyx from the bitter melon and cut in half lengthwise, then with a spoon remove the seeds and soft interior.
- ゴーヤーはへたを切って縦半分に切り、スプーンで種とわたを取る。
