Sino-Korean word from 간선(幹線) (ganseon, main line) + 도로(道路) (doro, road). Orthographic borrowing from Japanese (かん)(せん)(どう)() (kansendōro).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • Phonetic hangul: [ (ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
