Middle Korean 고〯마〮 (kwǒmá, respect) + 굴다 (gulda, to behave).

  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)/(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
