Sino-Korean word from 과(過) (gwa, “excessive, undue”) + 태(怠) (tae, “negligence”) + 료(料) (ryo, “fee, cost”)

- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈkwa̠(ː)tʰɛɾjo] ~ [ˈkwa̠(ː)tʰe̞ɾjo]
- Phonetic hangul: [과(ː)태료/과(ː)테료]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
