[edit]First attested in the Dictionnaire coréen-français, 1880, as Early Modern Korean 다ᄅᆞᆷ쥐 (Yale: talomcwuy), from Middle Korean ᄃᆞ라미〮 (Yale: tòlàmí, “chipmunk”) + 쥐 (jwi, “mouse, rat”).
By surface analysis, 달음 (dareum, “(dated) running”) + 쥐 (jwi, “mouse, rat”).
