Etymology 1
[edit]First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 올〮히 (Yale: wólhì). The dialectal evidence suggests that Old Korean had /k/ instead of /h/; compare Gyeongsang Korean 올기 (olgi) and 올개이 (olgaei).
