Etymology

From English Georgia. This has long been in use as a name for the state of the United States, this word began to be used increasingly to refer to the country of Georgia as well following a request by Georgia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2011 (see Wikipedia's Name of Georgia (country)#Gruziya and a related Telegraph article[1]). Compare Japanese ジョージア (Jōjia).
