Umbrian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Uncertain; possibilities include:
- from Proto-Italic *worฮฒis, from Proto-Indo-European *werbสฐ- (โto encloseโ), and cognate to Latin urbs;
- from Proto-Italic *werฮฒom, from Proto-Indo-European *werdสฐhโom (โwordโ), thus formally equivalent to Latin verbฤlis.
Noun[edit]
