[edit]From Akkadian 𒀀𒇉𒈦𒄘𒃼 (ÍDIdiqlat) , from Sumerian 𒀀𒇉𒈦𒄘𒃼 (ÍDIdigna, ÍDIdigina, literally “fast as an arrow”). Influenced by 𐬙𐬌𐬖𐬭𐬌 (tiγri, literally “arrow”) through folk etymology.[1]
