Etymology
[edit]Either cognate with Persian ุจุงุฎุชุฑ (bรขxtar, โwestโ) and Avestan ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ (bฤxฮดi), or possibly Bฤxtriลก (โshe who dividesโ) from the name of the river ฮฮฌฮบฯฯฮฟฯ (Bรกktros), itself derived from the root *bhag- (โto divideโ) (cf. Sanskrit เคญเคเฅ (bhรกj-), Avestan ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฌ (bag)).[1]
