Etymology 2

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *āg- (“to rise up”). Cognate with Azerbaijani ağmaq (“to outweigh; to rise up”), Turkish ağmak (“to outweigh; to rise up”), Gagauz aamaa (“to vaporize”), Turkmen āgmak (“to overflow”), Kazakh ауу (auu).
