Etymology

    Unknown. Probably cognate with Kashmiri खू॑न्ज़ुन् (khū॑nzun, to pluck).

    Perhaps inherited from Sanskrit कर्षति (karṣati, to pull) with influence from 𑀅𑀇𑀁𑀘𑀇 (aïṃcaï), 𑀅𑀬𑀁𑀙𑀇 (ayaṃchaï, to pull), from Sanskrit *अत्यञ्चति (atyañcati), from अञ्चति (añcati, to pull).[2]
