Possibly inherited from Sanskrit ध्वरति (dhvarati), from the root ध्वृ (dhvṛ), but also compare the reconstructed *𑀟𑀸𑀮𑀇 (*ḍālaï, “pours, puts”) and *𑀠𑀼𑀮𑀇 (*ḍhulaï, “bends, falls”).
