[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘰𑘄𑘚𑘹𑘽 (pāuḍeṃ), from Sanskrit स्फ्य (sphyá). Compare Hindustani پھاوْڑا (phāvṛā) / फावड़ा (phāvṛā), پھاوْڑِی (phāvṛī) / फावड़ी (phāvṛī), Marwari पावड़ौ (pāvṛau), फावड़ौ (phāvṛau), पवड़ी (pavṛī), Nepali फरुवा (pharuwā), फ्याउरी (phyāurī), Odia ଫାଉଡ଼ା (phāuṛā), Bengali ফাওড়া (phaōṛa).
