[edit]Unknown, probably affixed wwang (“man, person, human being; attendant, servant”) + (m)aN-. Probably cognate of Khmer ខ្ញុំ (khñom, “I, my, me”, literally “servant, slave”) and Khmer ញោម (ñoom, “you, your”).
