Mongolian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From an old instrumental case form of the past participle -сан (-san) [1]
Suffix[edit]
-саар • (-saar) (Mongolian spelling)
- The abtemporal converb, expressing that the action of the main clause has happened or has been happening since or during the action of the subordinate clause
Usage notes[edit]
- When followed by an auxiliary verb, it expresses something similar to English perfect progressive, and with the particle л (l) before the auxiliary it can be translated as "still be _____ing"
- The verb may be repeated for effect, either with the same suffix, or with the -н (-n) converb coming first.
