Etymology[edit]

From the stem element -աց (-acʿ) +‎ -ու (-u), later spread to words without the -աց (-acʿ) stem. Compare աչաց (ačʿacʿ, genitive-dative of աչք (ačʿkʿ)) and աչացու (ačʿacʿu), կենդանաց- (kendanacʿ-, the aorist stem of կենդանանամ (kendananam)) and կենդանացու (kendanacʿu).
