Etymology[edit]

From the stem element -աց(-acʿ) +‎ -ու(-u), later spread to words without the -աց(-acʿ) stem. Compare աչաց(ačʿacʿ, genitive-dative of աչք(ačʿkʿ)) and աչացու(ačʿacʿu), կենդանաց-(kendanacʿ-, the aorist stem of կենդանանամ(kendananam)) and կենդանացու(kendanacʿu).
