Etymology

From დო- (do-, affirmation prefix) +‎ რენ (ren, “to be”).

   1. indicates that the expression in the past tense was heard from a specific person

      kyazimik miǯu: hamserei mç̌imaz noğai gzalepe mtel menťroʒu-doren

      According to Kyazimi, there was a landslide on the city roads during tonight's rain.

   2. shows that you understand the movement that happened in the past by looking at your current state

      პეტმეზი ქჲუფიშენ ქოდიბუ-დორენ

      p̌eťmezi kyupişen kodibu-doren

3. (Vitse–Arkabi) indicates that the statement in the present or future tense was heard from someone else

   You won't talk to me and I'm playing the violin

Usage notes

• This word can be suffixed to the verb or used as its own both are correct. For example ქორტუ-დორენ (korťu-doren) and ქორტუ დორენ (korťu doren) both are right.
