Considered a modified version of -agar. Also from Esperanto -igi, Latin -igō and German -igen.

-igar

  1. (with an adjectival or nominal root) to make, render or transform into
    bela (fine, beautiful, handsome, bonny) + ‎-igar → ‎beligar (to beautify, embellish)
  2. with an intransitive verbal root, gives it an active sense
  3. with a transitive verbal root, gives it a causative sense, usually followed by the preposition da
