-uelo (feminine -uela, masculine plural -uelos, feminine plural -uelas) (adjective)

  1. diminutive suffix for nouns
    arroyo (stream) + ‎-uelo → ‎arroyuelo (brook, small stream)
  2. emphasizes contempt for the subject

Usage notes[edit]

Little used in modern Spanish. Sometimes takes the form -zuelo or -ichuelo.
