Etymology

From Old Persian 𐎶𐎼𐎯𐎢𐎴𐎡𐎹 (m-r-du-u-n-i-y /Mạrduniya-/, Mardonius, literally the mild one)[1], from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "OIr." is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. *mṛdu-na- + *-iya- (adjectival suffix). mṛdu-na itself is in turn derived from *mṛdu- (soft) + *-na- (nominal suffix).
