Etymology
Probably derived as a singular form from the plural, nunți, from an earlier hypothetical *nupți, from Latin nūptiae (“wedding”), from nupta (“bride”), from nubere (“marry”).[1] Compare Italian Italian nozze, Aromanian numtã.
