Korean

Etymology

Sino-Korean word from 辯護士 (lawyer, solicitor, counsel, attorney, barrister). Cognate with Jeju 벤호사 (benhosa).

Pronunciation

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈpjɘ(ː)nβo̞sʰa̠]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
