Ancient Greek

Etymology

Beekes dismisses a derivation from κῶνος (kônos, cone) and ὤψ (ṓps, face) and prefers to derive it from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF.. Compare, however, Egyptian ḫnws, ḫnms (a kind of stinging insect), which has also been suggested as a source.
