Sanskrit

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *swíd-ye-ti, from *sweyd- (to sweat). Cognate with Ancient Greek ῑ̓δῑ́ω (īdī́ō, to sweat), German schwitzen, Latin sūdō (to sweat), English sweat.
