From Proto-Iranian *dr̥Hgáh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dr̥Hgʰás, from Proto-Indo-European *dl̥h₁gʰós. Cognate with Persian دراز (darâz) and Sanskrit दीर्घ (dīrghá).
