From Classical Mongolian ᠳᠥ᠋ᠷᠪᠡ᠋ (dörbe), from Middle Mongol ᠳᠥ᠋ᠷᠪᠡ᠋ (dörbe), from Proto-Mongolic *dörben. Cognate with Buryat дүрбэн (dürben), from Kalmyk дөрвн (dörvn), Dongxiang jieron.
