Appendix talk:Vulgar Latin Swadesh list
Should we add quantifiers as to where a particular form is believed to have been used? We know Vulgar Latin had at least three major dialects: North Gallic, Hispanic, and Eastern, with Italy and South Gaul being transitional. And of course, 2nd century Vulgar Latin was wildly different from 4th century speech. You might want to make that clear. (This may be of interest to User:HansRompel and/or User:Guillermo2149.) Speaking of Eastern, I think it should be included in the chart as well. The words scire (to know), venare (to hunt), numerare (to count), albus (white), umidus and udus (both meaning wet) still survived in these languages. It can also include the unattested words like *padulem from palus (forest, at least in Eastern Romance and Albanian) and *miccus (small). 178.138.35.203 14:18, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
to fly
[edit]Under Reconstruction:Latin/exvolare it says it also means to fly. Should this be here as well as volare? 24.6.192.219 23:30, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
