Etymology[edit]

From Borealopelta (a genus of dinosaur) +‎ markmitchelli (of Mark Mitchell); the specific epithet used in honor of Canadian paleontological researcher Mark Mitchell at the Royal Tyrell Museum in Alberta, who worked on the first fossil discovered, the Suncor nodosaur, from the Millennium Mine then operated by Suncor.
