Etymology

From earlier Brozas, from Spanish broza, brozas (brushwood). Introduced through the Catálogo alfabético de apellidos, then as Brozas. The surname came to be written with S due to seseo and eventually displacing the former in Tagalog areas. Compare Waray-Waray Brozas, from the same Spanish source.
