Old Norse an-stem nouns.
These nouns are masculine or rarely neuter, typically with the following endings:
- in the nominative singular: -i when masculine, -a when neuter;
- in the genitive singular: -a;
- in the nominative plural: -ar when masculine, -u with u-umlaut when neuter.
The stem classes are named from the perspective of Proto-Germanic and may not still be visible in Old Norse inflections.
