Lifeforms[edit]

Should viruses be in category lifeforms? If lifeform means organism, it shouldn't. Most biologists do not classify them as alive.--Simplificationalizer (talk) 19:19, 19 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

They may not fit the precise definition of living things, but I can't think of an appropriate term that would include both viruses and true lifeforms in the strict sense. After all, Wiktionary categories are for finding entries that have something in common, not necessarily for giving information about the referents of the entries. People who look for terms for viruses would probably expect to be able to find terms for bacteria, animals, plants, etc. in the same category tree. Chuck Entz (talk) 04:00, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
