Etymology[edit]

From Tibetan གཅོད ‎(gcod, to sever), short for གཅོདསྒྲུབ་ཐབས ‎(gcod sgrub thabs), equivalent to Sanskrit छेद ‎(cheda) साधना ‎(cheda-sādhana); both literally "cutting practice".
