Etymology[edit]

Borrowing from Tibetan གཅོད(gcod, to sever), short for གཅོདསྒྲུབ་ཐབས(gcod sgrub thabs), equivalent to Sanskrit छेद साधना(cheda sādhanā); both literally "cutting practice".
