- green non-sulfur bacteria
- A taxonomic phylum within the subkingdom Posibacteria – now Chloroflexota.
- A taxonomic class within the phylum Chloroflexota – now Chloroflexia.

- Circumscription of the phylum is uncertain, with possibly only classes Chloroflexia and Thermomicrobia belonging in the phylum
